A Home in the Heart of North Queens
North Queens Nursing Home is a medium-sized long-term care home for special care in Caledonia, Nova Scotia.
We offer 24-hour care to those who can no longer care for themselves at home. We are a not-for-profit organization under the direction of a Board of Directors, with a 43-resident capacity and both respite and palliative care services.
Caring for Our Community Since 1938
North Queens Nursing Home first opened in 1938 as the Wright Nursing Home. In 1944 it became a Cottage Hospital, primarily supporting maternity care. Today, the same commitment to our neighbours continues as a modern long-term care home.
Connecting with Our Community
Our home is a dynamic part of the surrounding community. We support seniors who are not residents, as well as outside groups, and provide meals two days a week to the Meals-on-Wheels program.
Learning Together
We partner with area schools on inter-generational programs. Secondary school, college and university students complete clinical and training rotations here each year, sharing new knowledge and learning from our staff.
Involving Families
Families are an integral part of making the best decisions for their loved one. We encourage families to join resident conferences, recreation programs, mealtimes, satisfaction surveys and volunteer services.
Room to Breathe
Landscaped gardens with a gazebo, a library for quiet times and family celebrations, and an on-site beauty shop help make North Queens feel like home.
